23nd April 2010 Farewell to David Whitlock - 31 years of service David Whitlock - 31 years service to Westminster City Council and Continental Landscapes Ltd. 16th April 2010 Marble Arch, Westminster Last year Marble Arch received a major facelift. The site occupies a prominent position in Central London. BALI 2008 (British Association of Landscape Industries) Continental Landscapes Ltd has once again been successful at the annual BALI awards. The glittering occasion was held at the famous Grosvenor House Hotel (Marriott) Park Lane on the 5 December 2008. Westminster (Parks, South) had entered the Victoria Embankment Gardens and Whitehall Gardens in the category of Grounds Maintenance, Public Spaces, and Multiple Sites. Against stiff opposition we were in the last 3, only to be beaten by the slightest of margins, by Kensington and Chelsea. Never the less, it was a great achievement to be awarded a winners plaque. Continental Landscapes Ltd has been successful in the past; We were honoured to have representing Continental Landscapes Ltd at the auspicious occasion, Ruud Krinkels, Peter van Boesschoten (Belguim), Simon Goodenough (European Projects Director), Bill Trotman (U.K. MD), Steve Mills (Senior Contract Manager, Westminster), Pat Healy (Contract Manager, Westminster South), Mary Hickman (Westminster), Peter Stubbs (Ops Manager, London). The client side were also well represented by John Tweddle, Barry Haynes, David Creese and Hasan Gogus. The high-light at the rather long awards ceremony was Clive Anderson, who entertained us with his sharp wit and humorous take on British politics. No one was spared and he had us rolling about with laughter. Having personally visited the majority of Continental Landscapes Ltd contracts, I believe we have many winners amongst us. We do not need to fear the opposition, the standards we display are overall higher than any of our competitors. It would be nice to see other contracts entering this prestigious competition.
