As more is learnt about the detrimental effect that carbon emissions can have on the environment, we are committed to playing our part in reducing the amount of Carbon Dioxide released into the atmosphere.
Since we started our new contract with the Borough of Poole we have already taken the following steps:
- We use an up to date fleet of vehicles and machinery, some of which are electrically powered to help to reduce the amount of Carbon released into the atmosphere. We have recently taken delivery of an electric powered Ford Transit vehicle and a John Deere Electric Gator.
- We are investigating ways of generating some of our own power using solar panels or turbines. A complete feasibility study is being undertaken so that we can weigh up the potential benefits against the carbon emissions produced by the manufacture such items.
- We are currently designing a scheme which will enable us to harvest rain water, which will be used to water bedding plants and landscape schemes. This will reduce the amount of water taken from the mains supply.
- Our management staff recently attended the Reducing our carbon footprint in Bournemouth and Poole Conference to increase our knowledge and understanding of ways in which we can contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions at a local level.
