Continental Landscapes Ltd – Clean Green and Safe
Projects
As south eastern England prepares for hotter summers and drier winters it must get used to reducing the amount of water used throughout the region. Poole Borough Council and Continental Landscapes have been looking at some of the ways to do this without losing the green and attractive England which we expect.

One of the ways we have been focusing on is the replacement of thirsty bedding plants with shrubs which demand less water. There are many plants that are attractive and green but thrive in warmer, drier climates and we have been introducing phormiums, cordylines and palms, amongst other plants, to roundabouts and areas we maintain in Poole.

The photos below show the Continental Landscapes teams working on the introduction of these plants to the areas. There will be more drought resistant planting schemes over the winter so that Poole can remain green and beautiful next summer without adding to the water problems of the south east.
