Continental Landscapes Ltd is a nationwide landscape construction and maintenance specialist. The head office is based in Oxfordshire but we have branches across the UK, from Livingston in Scotland to Croydon on the outskirts of London.
The company was formed in 1989 and is a member of the Dutch-based Krinkels Holding BV operating in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France and the UK.
Dorset is probably one of the most beautiful counties in England. For not only can Dorset boast of Chisel Beach, Durdle Door, Corfe Castle and the Jurassic Coast Walk but also of literary giants such as Enid Blyton, Thomas Hardy. J.R.R. Tolkein and T.E. Lawrence and explorers like John Endicott and Sir Walter Raleigh. As well as famous figures like Mary Anning and Montague Druitt (allegedly Jack the Ripper)
East Dorset cover some 138,000 square miles of this county from Wimborne Minster out to Sturminster Marshall and St Leonards all the way out to Sixpenny Handley covering some of the gentle rolling hills that have made up this prime arable land from the Stone Age through Roman Times up to the present day.
Although nearly all one conurbation with Poole and Bournemouth these small towns still retain much of their charm and character. It is on this setting that the East Dorset crews work from fully urban to rural areas. They cut the grass 15 times per year, prune hedges 3 times per year and the shrubs 4 times a year. In addition they plant and tend several small flower beds.
It is amidst all this contract work that the East Dorset and council staff still have to assist Wimborne Town Volunteers to get the town ready for the Britain in Bloom competition, which in the past four years they have won Gold in the Regional's and this year Silver Gilt in the Nationals.
During the winter months our crews take on the enormous task of hedge and shrub bed rejuvenation as well as ditch clearance, sandbagging and gritting callouts. As if this is not enough they also find time to do the odd bit of landscaping.
Although East Dorset is a small contract it performs above the contract requirements and the crew take great pride in making East Dorset look attractive to the visitor and resident alike.
